Therapy Outdoors and In-Person

Local clients may opt for sessions with Tim Tedder in an outdoor setting. This option is seasonal and only available on certain weekday mornings in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Your 50-minute session begins at the Central Park East Shelters (adjacent to the Monon Community Center) and continues with a casual walk along the park paths or at one of the sitting areas.

FAQs

  • In-park sessions may be scheduled from mid-April to mid-October when the weather is more likely to be comfortable.

  • Come in through the Central Park entrance off of Westfield Blvd (just south of the Rangline/116th St intersection, NOT the main entrance on 111th St) and go the first roundabout. You’ll see the pavilions there.

  • Whatever makes you comfortable in the outdoor weather. Casual (shorts, jeans, t-shirts, walking shoes) are great choices.

  • The area includes two roofed pavilions that we can use if needed. However, if bad weather is forecast ahead of time you will be contacted to ask if you would like to switch your appointment to video/phone, or reschedule for another time.

  • Many counselors have successfully utilized various forms of outdoor therapy. Tim is excited to offer this option to Central Indiana clients. Combining conversation with multisensory stimulation and body motion can have a positive impact on the exploration of thoughts and feelings.

  • Bring what you want, but don’t worry about carrying too much. Tim will have a small backpack with supplies (umbrella, water, bug spray, seat covering, etc.) in case they are needed.

  • Before offering this option, Tim Tedder spent many days observing this location during morning hours. People were rarely there but could easily be avoided when they were.

Of course, we may occasionally pass others along the paths but can adjust our conversations appropriately. There are sitting locations at the end of some paths that would not be shared with others.
